Pioneer will issue a Terabyte drive in 2013.

Company Pioneer plans to release an optical disk one terabyte in 2013, reports DigiTimes. Currently, Pioneer engineers created a prototype optical disk 400 gigabytes.
In accordance with the Pioneer, mass production of optical discs 400 gigabytes, a read-only, will begin no later than 2010. By 2012, Pioneer will issue a 400-gigabyte rewritable optical disks.
The prototype 400-gigabyte drive was introduced by Pioneer in early July this year. It consists of 16 sections of 25 gigabytes each. The developers promise that such discs will be compatible with modern drives Blu-ray.
At the end of October was announced technology that increase capacity Blu-ray discs up to one terabyte. It's called flying plazmonicheskaya head and caused by an optical disc through a thickness of about nanometra where the data is saved.
Currently, the maximum capacity of the serial Blu-ray disc is 50 GB.
