One of the world's largest telecommunications holding companies sacked 12 thousand people.

The American company AT & T, one of the world's largest telecommunications holding companies, announced that it intends to reduce staff by 12 thousand. This is stated in an official press release issued by the company's website.
The announcement AT & T states that because of current economic conditions will be laid off about four per cent of the staff. Now the total number of employees exceeded 303 thousand people.
The reductions will take place in December and throughout next year. At the severance payments in the fourth quarter of 2008, AT & T, on its own figures, spends about 600 million dollars.
