Asus Company and Garmin have created an alliance to develop mobile phones, reports Cnet News. In support of this alliance was launched on the site garminasus.com.
Details transactions between Asus and Garmin are not reported. We know only that the company will concentrate on developing a mobile unit with GPS.
The first device released under the brand Garmin-Asus, will smartphone Nuvifone G60. It has a large touch screen and will be presented at the Mobile World Congress 2009 in mid-February in Barcelona.
Note that both companies are in the Open Handset Alliance, created by Google for its mobile platform Android. But representatives of Garmin-Asus did not specify on what platform will be constructed in their smartphones.
The company specializes in producing Garmin GPS-navigators. At the end of January 2008 it announced one of the first competitors Apple iPhone - a smartphone with a large Nuvifone touch screen. In mid-2008 release Nuvifone was postponed until the first half of 2009.
