Sales of computers in Russia dropped to third.

In the fourth quarter of 2008, Russia has sold more than 1.8 million personal computers, said the report IDC. This is 37.8 percent lower than in the fourth quarter of 2007. The evaluation includes both desktop computers and laptops and netbuki.
This entire year, according to the Quarterly PC Tracker, the Russian market for PCs grew by 8.4 percent over the previous year. Overall market volume is estimated at 9.5 million units. The largest suppliers of computers are Acer, Asus and HP.
At the same time, the market of desktop computers for the first time since 1998, declined. Last year they were sold only 4.6 million units, an increase of 17 per cent less than in 2007.
In IDC expects that by the end of 2009 the volume of the PC market to decline by 17.4 percent compared to 2008 year. The market for desktop PCs will decrease 12.4 percent.
Previously, Gartner analysts predicted a decrease in 2009, demand for computers in the world at a record 11.9 percent.
