"Rostelecom" has refused to buy "Skylink".

The company Rostelecom, member of the gosholding "Svyazinvest", withdrew from the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), a motion to purchase 100 percent of the shares in mobile operator "Skylink". This writes the newspaper Kommersant, citing its own sources.
The publication writes that a new director, "Svyazinvest" Eugene Yurchenko, who took the post on 10 February, will not approve the deal before approving a development strategy for the entire holding.
Recall that the application of FAS for the purchase of "Skylink" Rostelecom filed in mid-February.
In 2007, Rostelecom and the "Skylink" signed a cooperation agreement, under which companies provide the interaction networks in the transmission of traffic between regions.
"Skylink" gives the possibility of high-speed mobile Internet access, and services. The company is present in 32 regions of Russia in more than five thousand settlements. "Skylink" serves more than 900 thousand subscribers.
AFK Sistema owns 50 percent of the shares "Skylink", while another 50 per cent of the company owned by businessman Jeffrey Galmonda structures. As of September 2008, the total debt "Skylink" was 660 million dollars.
"Svyazinvest" - the largest management company in the Russian market of communication. Rosimuschestvo is the main shareholder of "Svyazinvest". Holding is responsible for 80 percent of Russia's telecommunications infrastructure, controlling seven interregional companies of communication and long-distance operator Rostelecom.
